And they came, every one whose heart stirred him up, and every one whom his spirit made willing, and they brought the LORD's offering to the work of the tabernacle of the congregation, and for all his service, and for the holy garments.  Exodus 35:21 (KJV)

The matter of stewardship is a challenging topic for young people who are often more focused on their own needs. The Capital Campaign has been met with mixed feelings and response by the youth. However, our aim is to continue to teach the biblical model of stewardship so that their understanding of it will parallel that of the Word of God and that this understanding will translate into them being more faithful stewards of all that God has entrusted to them.

In November 2003 prior to the launching of Capital Campaign, I had a burning desire to “sow a seed of faith” to ROBC’s Building Fund. My budget however indicated that this would have been impractical, but I consulted the Lord in prayer and decided that at first I would sacrifice part of my lunch money (“even if it’s $2 per day,” I told the Lord) or the entire amount on some days, but I would remain faithful in my commitment to the Lord. I rested on His promise in Malachi 3:10-12.

In the initial weeks I received telephone calls from persons who advised that they were bringing me lunch. On some occasions I had excess lunch to give away or refrigerate. At the same time, I started receiving money from unexpected sources. I put aside mail that seemed to be junk, only to realize at a later date that they contained checks, one of which was money owed to me since 2002 that I was unaware of. The Lord has continued to bless me immensely, such that my bills in the U.S. and Jamaica are all current and my mortgage prepaid. Recently, I also made a trip to Jamaica with my son, which I thought would have been impossible, but the Lord provided the necessary funds, including tickets. To God be the Glory!

The Capital Stewardship Campaign we have embarked on is not one of convenience, but rather of dire need. The limited space we now operate under greatly inhibits our growth. We need a multipurpose facility to promote growth, so that the church can be complete spiritually, mentally and physically.

I was privileged and honored to serve as one of the many directors during the launching of the fund. I was overwhelmed with the response of the Leadership as well as other members of the body who committed their time and resources to this worthy project. There was much enthusiasm, unity and co-operation displayed by all those who participated. This level of commitment was beyond that which I have experienced during my 18 years at Rehoboth. If this commitment is translated into giving then most surely our mission will be accomplished.

I encourage everyone not fully committed and those who have not signed on to “get on board,” for we are all “Marching to One Beat” and no one must be left behind. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have a sanctuary exclusively for worship, which is free from all forms of distractions, a recreational facility for our youngsters and social events, a school for the mental development of our children and last but not least a Children’s Church? I think so!

This is what the Capital Stewardship Campaign Fund is all about and I am committed 100 percent to this project.
